Thank you...
Thank you very much.
Eulogy for Ms Fely Baterina from a student
Your passing has suspended reality for all of us. We’ve all lost a daughter, a sister, a mentor, a teacher, an educator and a friend. She’s had numerous titles in her lifetime – all of which represent who she is to us.
I knew Tita Ising since I was 7 years old – a Grade 1 student in her newly established school. I’ve had so many good memories of her as all of us did.
One precious gem of memory that I would share with you happened 22 years ago, in one rainy afternoon. It was after school. Ms Fely was manning the gates for her students – making sure personally that everybody was sent home to their respective services and errands. I slowly saw the people around me disappear one by one – in groups and clusters gone home. Finally, it was only down to one – me. Being young and a new student, I was intimidated by her presence knowing that she’s the principal. And then here she comes. It was my dreaded moment. She sat with me. Asked me my parents’ and name all. Chatted with me till my boredom and fear of being left out subsided. She stayed when she could have just asked someone to watch me. She stayed when she could have just closed the gates and waited inside. She stayed… As the school year went by, I learned that every day she would do and accord that treatment to all of her students. We were her students in the classroom. She was family outside of it.
She had her bout with a major illness on that fateful day of September 12, 2007 – in her classroom. She was with her students. She endured a lot of pain in her latter years physically. But none of which will leave a single scar on her spirituality and kindness. Her family and those dear to her kept the faith.
St Marie Eugenie said that, “Love never says I have done enough…” It became Ms Fely’s way of life.
From nursery rhymes, to the song Kumbaya, to the intricacies of learning English and Literature, and to augmenting the parents’ role of molding their children to greatness and kindness, she had her legacy imprinted on it.
She loved what she did. She passionately fulfilled the many roles assigned to her by Jesus. She embraced her cross with a humble heart and a silent soul. She inspired a lot of us by her deeds, aspirations and example. She gave her all. She loved us all.
It was a privilege being her mentor. It was an honor knowing her. True enough, there are only few in this world able to carry the weight of the world in their shoulders. Coupled with prayers and faith, she did a great job at it.
When she breathed her last gulp of air in this world, it became her first day in eternity.
A single gift of life who touched numerous people, left an enduring legacy and inspired many - That is my Tita Ising, my Miss Fely – life well lived.
We will never forget.

Child Jesus Academy - Vision and Mission

CHILD JESUS ACADEMY was formerly Child Jesus Learning Center. It was originally a Preschool and was founded in 1984 at 99 OsmeƱa St., Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines by Miss Felicidad C. Baterina, a former Assumption Grade School faculty.
In 1989, Child Jesus Learning Center recognized the need for a better quality of education and opened its doors to grade school students.
As a result of its outstanding academic performance and contributions to its community and to the Philippine private educational system, Child Jesus Learning Center became Child Jesus Academy and then offered the Secondary Level in 1991.
Child Jesus Academy envisions herself as an educational community centered on Jesus Christ, witnessing to the gospel values and positive values of the Filipino people at the service of the community for social transformation.
Likewise, Child Jesus Academy commits itself to become a Christ centered educational community at the service of persons and communities for their total development through:
- the formation of faith centered on Jesus Christ and His church.
- the acquisition of knowledge skills and attitudes for service and commitment.
- the development of social awareness and consciousness built on trust, openness, mutual respect and cooperation necessary for social transformation.
- the appreciation of Filipino culture and values.
